Can This UNIABUJA Method Of Screening Candidates Works In Other schools?

UNIABUJA IntroducesUnique Screening Methodas POST UTME ScrappedBy FG (SHARE THIS)Following the recentscrapping of Post-UTMEexas by the FederalGovernment, a lot of people have been asking how schools will screenstudents without the Post- UME exams, the purpose of this thread is to explain how that isdone in University of Abuja which hasn’t had a Post-UME exam in 3 years. The first thing we need torealize is that an Exam isdifferent from a Screening. In University Of Abuja, there are no forms, just ascreening exercise. Whatdoes this involve?Students who applied forthe school in JAMB andhave met requirements(minimum of 180 in JAMBand a Credit in Maths andEnglish including subjectsrelevant to your coursechoice) will come for thescreening with theircredentials. At thescreening, they presenttheir results and answer acouple of questions (orally) based on your applied course (usually basic knowledge questions) after which they await the resultof this exam. This usually means getting admission from JAMB directly (first list)…and then 2 subsequent lists from theschool. Now, here’s the catch.Getting the admissiondoesn’t mean you’re home free. Thousands are usually given this admission into 100 level, but they don’t get an Admission letter fromthe school in their 100level, because a secondscreening happens in 200level.If a student is unable tofinish 100 level with a CGPA of 2.5 (3.5 in Medicine), he or she will be screened out of the school. Only those who achieve this mark remain in 200 level and aresubsequently given theschool’s Admission letter. Before the collection of this letter, it’s safe toassume that you’re not fully a University student until the end of this period of probation. This screening usuallyleaves the school with atleast half of the initiallyadmitted students which is the needed population. So, that’s the University ofAbuja model….I don’t know how effective it will be in other schools.
