Man Steals Baby From Wife Over Bride Price Quarrel

A man, Mohammed Shehu, has been arrested in Bosso
Local Government Area of Niger State for allegedly
stealing a day-old-baby belonging to his ex-wife, after
demanding for a refund of the bride price paid on the
woman before they separated.
The man was said to have used two women to deceive
his ex-wife, Samsiya Auwalu, and steal the baby from
her, after she allegedly refused to refund the bride price
he paid.
One Fatima Adamu who was used by the man to steal
the baby was arrested, alongside a teenage girl, Aisha
Badamasi, who carried the baby on her back when she
was stolen.
The suspect, Adamu was said to have set the house
ablaze when she made away with the stolen baby, in
order to confuse suspecting members of the public and
to cover up her tracks.
Adamu later confessed Mohammed, the ex-husband of
the woman was the mastermind of the crime.
He was said to have planned the abduction of the baby
when he learnt that his ex-wife put to bed, with the
intention to demand for the N40,000 he paid as dowry
on the ex-wife, before he would release the baby.
As at the time of compiling this report, the police were
still investigating the matter.
