Fani-Kayode, who has been undergoing trial alongside two others for an alleged fraud of N4.9bn fraud, was reportedly sent to Kuje prison in Abuja as his trial was stalled on Monday due to his absence before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

According to a report by Punch, Wale Balogun, who is a counsel to the PDP chieftain, informed the presiding judge, Justice Muslim Hassan, that his client was unable to come to court because he was in Kuje prison in Abuja as of Monday morning.

Balogun informed the court that Fani- Kayode had been remanded in Kuje prison on the order of Justice John Tsoho of the Abuja division of the court where he was arraigned on November 5, 2016 for a different alleged fraud of N26m.
