Hundred of Commuters stranded in Ikorodu

Hundreds of commuters in Ikorodu were on Monday morning stranded at the bus park for hours.
They expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the Lagos State government to ban Lagbus from plying the BRT corridor without providing adequate alternative.
TVC News correspondent Ola Awakan reports that Commuters in their large numbers stranded while others were made to pay super-normal bus fares to their destinations.
The Lagos State government through Acting Commissioner for Transportation, Anofi Elegushi had announced over the weekend that its decision to ban the Lagbus from plying Ikorodu BRT Corridor would take effect on Monday November the 7th.
Stranded commuters and some Lagbus operators expressed their dissatisfactions with the development. Commuters said commercial bus operators had seized the opportunity to exploit them by hiking bus fares.
Those who could not afford the outrageous fares were left to join the endless queue at the Ikorodu BRT corridor.
Four drivers of Primero Bus Services, operator of the Bus Rapid Transit BRT buses and a few commuters were said to have been hospitalised and more than 20 BRT buses destroyed in the early morning protest carried out by commuters and Lagbus operators.
Lagosians say they expect State government to consider their plight, as the recession is already affecting them.
